MIA MAI SYMONDS

This series of work continue Mia Mai Symonds’ interest in our relationship to fabrics. She says: “Through mark making with fibre, this body of work aims to acknowledge the act of weaving and material manipulation with the same freedom and expression as drawing, to respond rapidly and spontaneously through observation and material exploration. This work aims to refrain from the crafts’ historic desire for perfection and to experiment with contemporary and experimental approaches to both weaving and drawing, and in turn, acknowledge the relationships between the processes.”
